PERSONALITY INFO
Gimmick:
SUBMISSION MACHINE. He's built his career on being one of, if not THE premier submission wrestler in the world. If there's a hold, he knows it, the counter to it, and the counter to that counter, and so on, and so forth, on down the line. He has perfected the art of making people tap out in the middle of the ring, and as the ace in the hole? Has crafted one of a small handful of 'inescapable' holds the world has ever seen, just to keep in his back pocket, when all else fails. Of late, he's diversified his gameplan somewhat, but at the end of the day, it's like the tagline says: Everybody Taps.
Strengths:
Wrestling Savant: Shane has an almost supernatural ability when it comes to the many varied forms of technical wrestling, owed in part to his relentless training and perfectionism. A ground war with Shane Atwater is more often than not, a fool's errand, or a stalemate at best.
Tireless Motor: Shane still has reserves in the tank, long after many have run out of gas, making him skilled at outlasting larger, stronger opponents, and adept at taking all opposition into deeper water than they're prepared to swim.
Inescapable: When all else fails, Shane has a hold that, as of now, no one in the world has managed to escape once it is applied in his back pocket.
Weaknesses:
No Blood for the Blood God: While he's better than he used to be, Shane still doesn't thrive in hardcore environments, or a brawling atmosphere.
Relentless Pursuit of Perfection: Shane literally cannot stop trying to be perfect in the ring. He's simply not wired for otherwise. That kind of drive is a double edged sword, and can push to dangerous areas where he over-extends himself, or as he's learned in the past year, allow him to let anger and resentment to get the better of him in certain situations, which leads to tell-tale mistakes and openings.
War is Hell: Even at peak performance, the toll of professional wrestling at a high level has shown itself for Shane. An injured knee, multiple concussions, a recent neck stinger at the hands of Sophia Pike. All nagging at him, and his tendency to refuse to slow down will only make them more easy to exacerbate.

CHARACTER HISTORY/BIO
(please include previous promotions and title reigns at the least)
Shane Atwater spent most of his early career as a mid-level attraction in the independent scene, touring the Western US and becoming proficient as a mat technician.. He then spent several years honing his craft in Japan under the tutelage of the famous “Iron Ogre” Akitoshi Takayama. While there, Shane gained renown for an innovative submission hold that when applied, guaranteed victory with no chance of escape. Dubbed the “Kobayashi Maru” in a nod to the unsolvable problem from a television show in Shane’s childhood, the hold and Shane’s continued growth as a submission wrestler brought him newfound notoriety in Japan, and eventually brought him onto the radar of Hard Knox Wrestling, who he signed with in 2014. He saw immediate success, winning the Crowned Royalty tournament that same year and quickly establishing himself as a star on the rise (while also being embroiled in a brutal feud with Jack Warren, which would last the entirety of the calendar year of 2015 and beyond). After a failed attempt to win the World Championship, and another after that (both stolen out from under him by Warren) Shane took a sabbatical and returned to Japan, winning the then-GFP World Tag Team Championships as part of a makeshift team with Kickass Smurf. The two defended their belts against all comers, before Shane made his return to Hard Knox Wrestling at Warren’s goading, eventually defeating his arch nemesis, taking the HKW World Championship, and breaking his arm in the process. Soon after that Smurf and Atwater lost their tag team championships to Annie Zellor and The Crimson Baroness, only for Atwater to bounce back by winning his first major singles championship in Japan when he defeated Ricky Valero for the NKP (formerly GFP) Openweight Championship. With his career surging forward, Atwater looked for even more new challenges, and more competition to push himself to the next level...turning his sights to SVW, where he managed several accolades, winning the Defiance Championship on two separate occasions, in addition to winning the Midas Touch battle royal for a World Championship opportunity, which he won from Steph Stefano in what was widely to considered to be a 'five star' encounter, and a match that would be...life changing for Shane.
Shane retained the championship in an equally lauded rematch with Stefano, but then lost the championship to Misty Whitmore upon the interference of Luther Thunder. Stymied by cheating, red tape, and the idiosyncratic bureaucracy that had started to rear its head in SVW, Shane never recovered his Championship, and endured a bitter feud with Sophia Pike that drove him to, and beyond a breaking point. Realizing that he was growing to hate the person he had become since his SVW career had begun, and further encouraged by a nagging injury suffered in a final loss to Sophia Pike, Shane took his leave from SVW and set out to rebuild himself from the ground up. Of late he has spent a significant amount of time working with Aurora Jansen, and Stephanie Stefano, tuning and retuning in preparation for Stefano and himself eventually returning to the ring...and attempting to go above and beyond even his former accomplishments.
